Balzar Beskow has been the leading producer and supplier of auditorium chairs in Sweden for decades. In this project we tried to find new ways to how an auditorium chair could be designed and in that way find new ways of expression. At the same time, it must cope with all the demands and parameters set for an auditorium chair for public spaces. One of the challenges was that the same basic chair must be able to work in a variety of formations and different designs. For example, straight or curved lines, with or without a writing tablet, with or without armrest. Another challenge was to remove as much visible fittings and screws as possible to get an auditorium chair with as clean expression as possible.
